Staff Sergeant Michael Armstrong

An Omaha, Neb., native who served in the Nebraska Army National Guard, Staff Sergeant Michael Armstrong was the POW/MIA Chair Sentinel on November 2, 2024 for the Husker Football game against UCLA.

Staff Sergeant Armstrong enlisted in the National Guard in October 2006. He completed two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, Staff Sergeant Armstrong was wounded, but turned down a trip home to finish deployment with his soldiers.

Staff Sergeant Armstrong has received a combat infantry badge and is a Purple Heart recipient. He medically retired in August of 2015.
