The No. 7 Nebraska rifle team fell to Kentucky on Sunday by a score of 4,723-4,696 in West Point, N.Y.
Sophomore Emma Rhode led the Huskers with a third-place finish and a 1,181 aggregate score. Junior Mackenzie Strauch placed sixth with a 1,176.
“The team had a tough day today but prone and air rifle were the main problem areas,” Head Coach Mindy Miles said, “Both aspects which the team has shown they can perform well in. We will focus on both this week at practice and aim higher for next week.”
In the air rifle, Rhode grabbed fifth place with a 594. Senior Cecelia Ossi (592, seventh) and Strauch (591, eighth) also placed in the top ten.
Rhode finished in second in the smallbore with a 587 to lead the team, while Strauch placing third with a 585. Senior Madelynn Erickson (581, seventh) and sophomore Camilla Johannessen (581, eighth) rounded out the lineup.
Up next, NU will return to the Nebraska Rifle Range to face off against Georgia Southern on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 8 a.m.
