A Papillion, Nebraska native, Staff Sergeant Bill Bitting, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was the POW/MIA Chair Sentinel as the Huskers took on Colorado on Sept. 7, 2024.
Staff Sergeant Bitting joined the Marine Corps directly after graduating from Papillion La Vista South High School in 2004. He deployed six times to Iraq and Afghanistan as a Scout Observer and Joint Terminal Attack Controller.
He received eight medals, including an Army Achievement Medal and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Bitting was honorably discharged in 2012 from the Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant and would like to thank Captain Jon Lewis and Sergeant Christopher Davis.
