An Omaha, Nebraska, native, Sergeant Roger Dale Horstman, who served in the U.S. Army, was the POW/MIA Chair Sentinel for the Nebraska Football game vs. Northern Iowa on September 14, 2024.

Staff Sergeant Horstman joined the Army directly after graduating from Millard High School in 1977. His first duty assignment was Company A, 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry in West Berlin, Germany.

After two years in Germany, Sergeant Horstman was transferred to Fort Campbell, Kentucky and assigned to 101st Airborne/Air Assault Division. He graduated from Air Assault and PNCO School and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal before being honorably discharged in June of 1981.
