10 Huskers Named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans

10 members of Nebraska's swimming and diving team claimed CSCAA Scholar All-America honors when the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America announced its individual academic award winners on July 3.

Record-setting sophomore Gena Jorgenson (Aberdeen, S.D.) captured first-team CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades for the second straight year. This past season, Jorgenson qualified for the 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and 400 IM at the NCAA Championships. She broke three school records en route to an eighth-place finish and First-Team All-America honors in the 1650 freestyle. As the first Husker swimmer to be named a First-Team All-American since 2001, Jorgenson’s NCAA Championship mile time of 15:55.71 is 19 seconds faster than any other 1650 swimmer in school history. She added a 27th-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:41.03) and a 33rd-place finish in the 400 IM (4:11.51). Jorgenson is coming off of the U.S. Olympic Trials, where she broke two more school records.

Kelsey Clairmont (Regina, SK, Canada) capped off her sophomore campaign with another trip to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. She posted a 20th-place finish on the platform with a score of 242.70. Clairmont set a career-best on the one-meter in a dual with Kansas (Nov. 3), where she posted a zone-qualifying 284.03 en route to a third-place finish. The next weekend, against Iowa, Clairmont added a career-best on the three-meter. She earned another zone qualifying score (339.20) and finished first. 
At the Zone D Diving Championships, Clairmont placed eighth with a score of 502.75 in the platform finals to punch her tickets to the NCAA Championships. She accumulated 18 zone-qualifying scores throughout the season and added 15 top-five finishes.

Frankie Webb (Cambridge, England), Antonina Harned (Windermere, Fla.) and Ellee Delcamp (Seward, Neb.) represented the Husker divers on the list, each qualifying for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. Webb placed 42nd at zones on the three meter with a 244.80. Harned posted a top-25 zones finish on the three meter and a 38th-place finish on the one meter. She finished her freshman season with 10 top-three finishes. Delcamp set two career-bests during her sophomore campaign for the Huskers, while earning a pair of zone qualifying scores on the three meter.

JoJo Randby (Omaha, Neb.) competed in the 100 breaststroke at the U.S. Olympic Trials, placing third in her heat and 39th overall. She currently holds the Nebraska school record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.07. She clocked that time at the 2023 Big Ten Championships to break the 27-year-old record, previously held by Olympic gold medalist Penny Heyns. She hit the NCAA B Standard six times in the event this season, grabbing a first-overall finish at the Hawkeye Invite (1:00.54).

Maia Hall (Whitby, England) hit the NCAA B Standard four times in the 100 breaststroke and eight times in the 200 breaststroke. At the Big Ten Championships, Hall clocked a time of 1:01.11 in the 100 breaststroke to earn a spot in the A final. She finished fifth overall with the second-fastest time on NU’s all-time list (1:00.16). Hall also grabbed a fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:10.90. She went on to clock a career-best in the event during a time trial at the Mizzou Last Chance Meet. Her time of 2:09.87 puts her at second all-time for NU.

From Budapest, Hungary, Beatrix Tanko's freshman campaign was highlighted by breaking the 100 butterfly school record at the Big Ten Championships with a 10th-place finish and a time of 53.16. She earned 14 top-three finishes and six titles on the season, while contributing to 10 winning relays.

Sarah Barton, a Huntersville, N.C. native, swam a career-best 17th-place finish in the 200 butterfly at the Big Ten Championships with an NCAA B Standard time of 1:58.41. She appeared in the finals of the 200 IM and finished 21st (2:00.23).

Anastasia Tichy (Salzburg, Austria) qualified for the B final of the 200 butterfly at the Big Ten Championships with a prelim time of 1:59.35. Tichy went on for a 15th-place finish with a time of 1:59.85. She added a 24th-place finish in the C final of the 100 butterfly (54.38). 

To be named a first-team Scholar All-American student-athletes must achieve a minimum 3.50 GPA and participate in their respective national championship. Second-team selections also must maintain a 3.5 GPA and meet the "B" time standard for their national championship or compete in a zone diving qualifier.
