Darius Luff Day Announced by Mayor of Lincoln

At a celebration held Monday night, Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird declared June 7 to be Darius Luff Day, honoring the 2024 NCAA 110m Hurdles Champion.

Darius Luff’s journey from Lincoln High School to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and onto national victory is an inspiration to us all,” the Mayor said. “We celebrate his outstanding contributions and wish him the best as he competes in the Olympic Trials, embodying the spirit of perseverance and excellence that can inspire us to clear hurdles on our path to success, both in sport and in life. Go, Darius, go, Links, and go Big Red!”

The Lincoln native crossed the finish line first at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 7 in a personal-best time of 13.19, making him the first 110m hurdles national champion in school history. That time is a school record, ninth in collegiate history and 12th in the world this year.

Throughout his career, Luff has garnered four First-Team All-America honors and three Big Ten titles. He helped the Husker men tie for 13th in the team race at the NCAA championships and secure their second-straight Big Ten team title.
