NU Travels to Arizona State for Regular Season Finale

The No. 3 Nebraska wrestling team will hit the road to take on the No. 19 Arizona State Sun Devils on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. Action is slated to begin at 2 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on Pac-12 Insider. 

Arizona State (6-5, 4-1 Pac 12) enters Sunday’s dual with a three-match winning streak with a recent 18-17 victory over No. 21 Stanford and a 34-3 win over No. 24 Cal Poly. ASU’s lineup features six wrestlers in the top 30 of their weight class: No. 3 Jacori Teemer (157), No. 4 Kyle Parco (149), No. 18 Jesse Vasquez (141), No. 24 Richard Figueroa (125), and No. 27 Julian Chlebove (133) and Jacob Meissner (197).

Eight Huskers (11-2, 6-2 Big Ten) enter the weekend ranked in the Top 25, including undefeated No. 1 Ridge Lovett (149), No. 3 Lenny Pinto (184), and No. 7 Caleb Smith (125), Brock Hardy (141) and Peyton Robb (157).  

History: Nebraska and Arizona State meet for the 20th time in series history on Sunday dating back to 1968. The Huskers lead the all-time series 13-5-1 and have won the last seven meetings between the teams. Most recently, NU defeated ASU at home last season, 25-15. 

Last Time Out: Four Huskers claimed bout victories, but it was not enough as the Huskers fell to top-ranked Penn State on Sunday afternoon, 22-13.

Up Next: Nebraska will begin postseason competition as it travels to College Park, Md., for the Big Ten Championships, March 9-10. 

Scouting the Sun Devils:

  • Arizona State is 4-1 in its last five dual matches. ASU’s last three wins have all come against Pac-12 opponents, as the Sun Devils have a 4-1 conference record this season.
