Huskers Host Penn State in Home Opener

No. 4 Nebraska is set to host No. 8 Penn State in its first Big Ten matchup at NU’s season home opener this Saturday, Feb. 3. The meet will commence at 6 p.m. (CT) at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. The dual will be live streamed for B1G+ subscribers. There will be a poster giveaway with a team autograph session following the competition.

Last Time Out
The Huskers took a second-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Open last weekend (409.600) behind Oklahoma in first (420.350) and Air Force in third (392.750), along with GymACT teams that competed.

The competition was highlighted by freshman Cole Partridge earning CGA rookie of the week following his debut performance at RMO, earning a top-three finish on parallel bars (14.20) and high bar (14.10). Sophomore Toby Liang took second in the all-around (81.45), a career-best for the Roswell, Ga. native. Captain Zac Tiderman also finished third on vault (14.50) and junior Chris Hiser took third on rings (13.75).

National rankings feature individuals including Sam Phillips in eighth on floor (14.05), Zac Tiderman in eighth on vault (14.50), Cole Partridge in third on high bar (14.10) and eighth on parallel bars (14.20).

Ahead of the meet, NU ranks third on each event but one including floor (67.55), pommel horse (68.65), vault (71.150), parallel bars (67.900) and high bar (67.50). NU took fifth on rings (66.85).

Scouting the Competition
The Nittany Lions rank No. 8 in NCAA standings moving into week four of the season, and the Huskers’ second meet thus far. Penn State comes off a second-place finish at the Navy Open (395.450), falling behind Ohio State in first position (405.350). Seniors Michael Jaroh (80.95) and Michael Artlip (77.00) highlight the competition after qualifying for Winter Cup with their first and third place all-around finishes.
