Huskers Fall to No. 10 Wolverines

The No. 22 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team was defeated by the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines on Saturday afternoon, 196.900-195.275. A crowd of 3,815 showed up to the Bob Devaney Sports Center at the Huskers' annual Pepsi Pack the House meet.

Csenge Bácskay and Whitney Jencks both tied two of their career highs. Bácskay scored a 9.850 on bars and a 9.800 on beam, while Jencks notched a 9.800 on bars and a 9.825 on floor.

Emma Spence and Bácskay represented the Huskers in the all-around. Bácskay tied for second with a 39.350 and Spence scored a 38.625 to finish in fifth. 

Rotation One
The Huskers started the afternoon off on vault, notching a team score of 49.000. Spence led the team with a 9.850. Martina Comin followed her with a 9.825, while Kinsey Davis and Bácskay both posted a 9.800. Sophia McClelland (9.725) and Ayzhia Hall (9.700) rounded out the rotation.

Michigan’s Reyna Guggino claimed the event title with a 9.900.

Rotation Two
NU moved onto the uneven bars, where it scored a 48.900. Spence and Davis both scored a 9.875 to lead the Big Red. Bácskay notched a 9.850 to tie her career high, while Whitney Jencks also tied her career-best 9.800. Clara Colombo scored a 9.500 and Emma Simpton recorded an 8.950.

Sierra Brooks of Michigan scored a 9.900 to win the event.

Rotation Three
Nebraska continued the day on beam, posting a 48.325. McClelland led the team with a 9.850. Bácskay followed her with a 9.800, which tied her career high. Isabel Sikon notched a 9.725 and Allie Gard scored a 9.700. Hall (9.250) and Spence (9.150) rounded out the event.

Sierra Brooks of Michigan won the event title with a 9.925.

Rotation Four
The Big Red competed on floor to finish out the meet and scored a 49.050. Bácskay scored a 9.900 to lead the Huskers. Jencks earned a 9.825 to tie her career-best score, and Comin and Spence both posted a 9.800. McClelland and Halle Rourke rounded out the rotation, each with a 9.725.

Sierra Brooks and Naomi Morrison tied for the event title with scores of 9.925.
