Strauch Shoots Career-Best on Senior Day

The No. 7 Nebraska rifle team (4-7, 2-2 PRC) fell to the No. 5 Georgia Southern Eagles (11-1, 5-0 SoCon) by a score of 4,725-4,702 on Saturday. The Huskers honored seniors Cecelia Ossi and Madelynn Erickson and junior Mackenzie Strauch for their contributions to the program.

Ossi claimed a second-place overall finish with an aggregate score of 1,187. Sophomore Emma Rhode finished fifth overall with a 1,179. 

“The team improved this weekend in their performance,” Head Coach Mindy Miles said. “They were thoughtful and observant in their discipline throughout the match. Next weekend will be two more opportunities to show what the Huskers are capable of.” 

Ossi placed second in the air rifle with a 597. Rhode was third with a 594 and junior Mackenzie Strauch was fifth, with a career-best 594. The tiebreaker was determined by the number of 10-point shots by each athlete.

Ossi also grabbed a second-place finish in the smallbore with a score of 590. Rhode was fifth with a 590.
