The No. 6 Nebraska wrestling team (5-1-0, 0-1-0 Big Ten) travels to No. 9 Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 19 before returning home to welcome Purdue on Sunday, Jan. 21. Action is slated to begin against the Gophers (5-1-0, 0-1-0 Big Ten) at 9 p.m. (CT) and will be aired on BTN with Shane Sparks and Jim Gibbons on the call. On Sunday, the dual is set for 1 p.m. (CT) with the Boilermakers (5-4-0, 0-1-0 Big Ten) and will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
When the Huskers face the Gophers, nine of the 10 bouts will potentially feature matchups between ranked wrestlers. Against Purdue, the Big Red could face ranked opponents in three matches. Nine Huskers enter the weekend ranked, as No. 7 Caleb Smith (125), No. 8 Brock Hardy (141), No. 1 Ridge Lovett (149), No. 3 Peyton Robb (157) and No. 3 Lenny Pinto (184) are all in the Top 10.
History: Nebraska and Minnesota meet for the 77th time in series history on Friday. The Gophers lead the all-time series, 25-51-0, but the Huskers won the most recent matchup between the teams last season. Against Purdue, NU defeated the Boilermakers last season and leads the overall series, 12-2-0.
Last Time Out: Van Dee (125) earned an upset and Pinto (184) tallied a major decision, but it was not enough as the Huskers fell to Iowa on Friday night, 22-10.
