“It was nice to have the team back in town to start the spring season,” Head Coach Mindy Miles said. “They made good progress in practice this week. I’m looking forward to picking up where we left off and start the spring season with strong performances that we can continue to build off of for the remaining weeks of competition.”

During the fall portion of the season, the Big Red shot the highest aggregate score in program history – 4,728 against Air Force on Oct. 15. In that same match, the team also set the record for air rifle score with a 2,384. Senior captain Cecelia Ossi tied the individual air rifle record of 598 in Nebraska’s match against WVU on Oct. 29.

Most recently, the Huskers competed in the Fall Classic on Nov. 11-12, 2023, where they placed third out of four teams with an aggregate score of 4,700. NU fell to No. 1 West Virginia and No. 8 Air Force and defeated No. 9 Murray State. Sophomore Emma Rhode led the Big Red with a ninth-place finish overall and an aggregate score of 1,176.

The Wildcats have defeated No. 15 Morehead State, No. 13 Navy, No. 11 Akron, No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 12 Memphis this year. Their lone loss came against No. 4 Alaska-Fairbanks. Kentucky’s average aggregate score is 4,722.14.

In the series between Nebraska and UK, the Wildcats hold a 41-13 lead in the series. The last meeting between the two came during the 2021 NCAA Championships, when Kentucky defeated the Huskers, 4,731-4,676.

Following the matchup with the Wildcats, NU will return home to face off against Georgia Southern on Saturday, Jan. 20.
