Sergeant Jim Orosco (Gretna, NE, Air Force, Vietnam)  

Sergeant Jim Orosco’s military career started in 1957. During this time, he went through Airborne Jump School and Advanced Infantry training. He also was involved in air-assault and jungle training in Panama. After this, he was stationed in Vietnam with the 2nd 503 infantry 173rd Airborne Brigade for 11 months. He was wounded there and received his Purple Heart. He also received a Combat Infantry badge, Air Assault wings, U.S. Army Parachute Jump wings, and RVN Parachute Wings.  

After his active service, Orosco joined the North Platte National Guard for two years. In 2001, he was made an admiral in the Nebraska Navy by Governor Mike Johanns.
