Master Sergeant Philip E. Labadie Jr. (Lincoln Park, MI, U.S. Air Force, Vietnam)
Phillip E. Labadie served active duty for the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. His first assignment was at Offutt Air Force Base as a Civil Engineer. During this time, he met his wife Mary Ann Race, an Omaha Nebraska girl who converted Phil from a Michigan fan to a Husker fan before they got married.
Following his training, Sergeant Labadie was sent to Guan and Thailand where the B-52 Bomber Bases were located. From those locations, he flew 101 bombing missions over Vietnam including Operation Linebacker Two, the largest bombing raid of the war.
Labadie earned two distinguished flying crosses for single acts of heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. He retired from the Air Force in 1981 and returned to Omaha where he worked at the US Post Office.
