Corporal Walter Sullivan 'Sully' (Omaha, NE, U.S. Army, World War Two)
Water Sullivan, aka Sully, served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 following his graduion from Omaha South High School. Sully was a part of the first wave to arrive in Okinawa, Japan where he spent most of his time encoding and decoding messages to secure the island. He bravely served in Okinawa for six years. Thank to his position, Sully was one of the first to hear the message "Operation Iceberg coming to a close." letting him know the war was ending.
After his service, Sully returned home to Omaha and graduated from Creighton University.
