Bácskay Finishes Eighth in Vault Finals

Antwerp, Belgium - Nebraska gymnast Csenge Bácskay finished in eighth place of the women’s vault event finals at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships on Saturday. 

Bácskay, representing Hungary, finished 11th in the event’s preliminary round on Sunday, Oct. 1. She scored a 13.800 and a 13.200 to average a 13.500, making her the second alternate for the finals. Bácskay competed as an injury replacement.

In the finals, she scored a 13.400 on her first vault and a 13.133 on her second vault for an average score of 13.266.

Rebeca Andrade of Brazil won the event with an average score of 14.750.

Bácskay will begin her sophomore season with the Huskers starting in January.
