Huskers Take First Losses of Season

Fort Worth, Texas - The No. 3 Nebraska rifle team fell to No. 1 West Virginia and No. 2 TCU on Saturday. Nebraska shot a team aggregate score of 4,699, while TCU shot a 4,730 and WVU shot a 4,748. 

“As a team, we didn’t make a great appearance today,” Head Coach Mindy Miles said. “We will have another chance tomorrow against WVU.”

Senior Cecelia Ossi placed fourth overall with a score of 1,184. She was joined in the top 10 by sophomore Emma Rhode (ninth, 1,175) and junior Mackenzie Strauch (10th, 1,170). 

In the air rifle, Ossi shot a 596 to tie for third. Rhode (593, 12th), Strauch (592, T-13th), freshman Charlie Mick (591, T-15th) and sophomore Tori Watts (591, T-15th) also placed in the top 15.

In the smallbore, Ossi finished tied for seventh with a 588. Rhode tied for 14th with a 581 and Mick shot a personal best of 581 in the event to finish 16th.

Nebraska will face WVU in a dual tomorrow, Oct. 29, starting at 8 a.m. Fans can follow along with results here.
