Huskers Hit the Road for Match Against No. 7 Falcons

The No. 6 Nebraska Rifle team will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to take on No. 7 Air Force this Sunday, Oct. 15. The match will start at 8:30 a.m. (CT), and fans can follow along with live results here.

“Air Force is an easy trip for the team,” said Head Coach Mindy Miles. “We are taking advantage of fall break and traveling over the weekend. Air Force has a very nice range, which the team hasn't visited since the 2022 PRC championships.”

In the Huskers’ season-opening match, they downed No. 12 Ohio State, 4,698-4,684 on Oct. 7. Senior captain Cecelia Ossi tied her personal-best air rifle score of 597 in the competition and placed first in the event. She also finished first overall with a score of 1,182. Sophomore Tori Watts was third (1,175), while sophomore Emma Rhode placed fifth (1,173).

“Practice has been productive, and we are looking to add onto the score the team posted last week,” Miles said. "We have made the necessary changes in the positions, process and equipment that we think will make a difference for the athletes."

The Falcons opened their season on Oct. 7 against UTEP. They won by a score of 4,725-4,593.

The two teams have faced off 46 times since 2000, and NU has won 28 of those matchups. Most recently, Nebraska took both matches of a doubleheader with Air Force (4,717-4,692/4,706-4,698) on Oct. 22 and 23, 2022.

Following the match with the Falcons, NU will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on TCU and West Virginia on Oct. 28.
