Huskers Host TCU in Top-10 Matchup

The No. 6 Nebraska Rifle team (6-4) will return to the Nebraska Rifle Range on Saturday, Jan. 21, to take on the No. 1 TCU Horned Frogs. The match is slated to start at 7:45 a.m. (central) and results can be found at https://results.megalink.no/#!/

"After a strong road match, the team is looking forward to a home match this weekend," said Head Coach Mindy Miles. "I am excited to see what the team posts. Practice has been great and the team is in excellent spirits."

TCU is Miles' alma mater. While competing for the Horned Frogs, she was a three-time National Rifle Association All-American and posted two perfect 600 scores.

TCU is ranked No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association Top-20 poll and has not lost a match this season. The Horned Frogs average an aggregate score of 4,740.22. They won the air rifle event at the 2022 NCAA Championships and placed second overall.

The Huskers are 5-21 all-time against TCU. The most recent matchup between the two teams was on Oct. 29, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Horned Frogs won with a score of 4,737-4,699.

Last weekend, the Huskers traveled to Kentucky and took down No. 14 Morehead State by a score of 4,719-4,669. In that match, NU set the new team smallbore record of 2,351, breaking the previous record of 2,345 set against Air Force on Oct. 22.

Nebraska took four of the top five spots against Morehead State. Junior All-American Madelynn Erickson placed first (1,185), fellow All-American Cecelia Ossi was second (1,178), freshman Emma Rhode was third (1,178) and freshman Vittoria Watts was fourth (1,178). Erickson took first in the air rifle with a career-best score of 597, while Ossi placed first in the smallbore, maintaining her personal-best of 592.

Following the match this weekend, the Huskers will stay home to take on No. 11 Ohio State on Saturday, Jan. 28.
