Chief Warrant Officer 5, Susan (Betka) Frazier (Geneva, Neb., United States Marine Corps)

Chief Warrant Officer 5, Susan (Betka) Frazier enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November 1976. After graduating from high school in Geneva, Nebraska in June of 1977 she attended Marine Corps Bootcamp at Parris Island, South Carolina.

She then graduated as the honor graduate of Platoon 4092 and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. Upon completion of recruit training, Chief Warrant Officer Frazier attended Marine Corps Engineer School at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina for her Military Occupational Specialty. Sue spent the next four years on active duty and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon completing her enlistment, she joined the Marine Corps Reserve and was stationed with the Engineer Maintenance Company, 4th Maintenance Battalion, 4th FSSG, Omaha, Nebraska. During this time, Sue attended the University of Nebraska.

In June of 1982, she was appointed to Warrant Officer-1 by the Secretary of the Navy. Over the next several years, Chief Warrant Officer Frazier served at Marine Corps Reserve units in North Carolina, Virginia, Arizona, and California. In January 1991 while serving as the Officer in Charge of Headquarters and Service Company, Fourth Light Antiaircraft Missile Battalion, Pasadena California, Chief Warrant Officer 4 was activated as the Engineer Officer in support of Operation Desert Storm along with her unit and deployed to Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona in preparation for deployment to the Persian Gulf.  In August 1996 she was promoted to her current rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5, the highest rank a Warrant Officer can achieve. Chief Warrant Officer Frazier completed her 21-year military career in Pasadena, California.

Her personal awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps Reserve Medal with Silver Star, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Silver Hourglass an M attachment.

Chief Warrant Officer Frazier currently resides in Gilbert, Arizona with her husband, Retired Marine Corps Master Sergeant Robert Frazier. Today, Chief Warrant Officer Frazier and her family placed a “We Remember” poppy wreath on the unoccupied chair for the POW/MIAs of Nebraska.
