Huskers Set for 33rd Annual Greeno/Dirksen Invite

The Nebraska cross country team co-hosts the 33rd annual Greeno/Dirksen Invite on Saturday at the Mahoney Golf Course. The men's 8K begins at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 5K at 10:50 a.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Nebraska women captured the team title with 43 points in the season opener at the Augustana Twilight behind Berlyn Schutz crossing the finish line first in her collegiate debut. Schutz, a freshman from Lincoln, clocked a 17:17.18 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Brynna McQuillen added a top-five finish, placing fifth with a time of 17:40.61. Rounding out the Husker women in the top ten, Ali Bainbridge covered the course in 17:49.70 to place sixth and Taya Skelton finished 10th with a time of 18:09.88. The men notched a third-place team finish, with Trevor Acton leading the pack with a 19:47.06 to finish 11th. Cal Puskar pitched in a 13th-place finish with a time of 19:49.15.
 
Greeno/Dirksen History
The meet began in 1990 when Nebraska Wesleyan combined its meet with Nebraska's annual meet to form what is now the largest cross country event in the state.

NU has won 13 men's titles and 17 women's titles. The men won their last team title in 2015, while the women took home the team crown in 2011. The Husker women have placed second as a team for the past two years, while the men have gathered two consecutive fourth-place finishes.
