Football Fall Camp Video & Report: Aug. 12

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule met with members of the media following Saturday’s practice. Rhule addressed the team morale and how the group stands after today’s scrimmage.

“We’ve been seeing the guys hang out together. It’s been great,” Rhule said. “We’ve been doing some activities, and we’ve been playing a lot of football. They went to the waterpark Thursday, and we took guys who wanted to go to Hamilton last night. It’s the experiences, specifically the cultural experiences. It’s been good for them to see what that’s like and spend time together. I’m very grateful we did it.”

Rhule specifically discussed the challenges the younger players will have to overcome before the start of the season.

“It’s just learning and knowing what to do, as well as confidence,” he said. “I think those young players are really talented, fast and explosive. It’s just going to take time. They’re going to have to make sure they play with confidence; that’s why we practice the way we do.”

He also spoke on the older players, specifically the receivers, impacting fall camp.

“We have a lot of guys we are counting on," Rhule said. "There’s no sense of concern for me at all. I think the future of our receiving core is looking good. The older guys are what we’re counting on.”

The Huskers will return to the practice field Monday as they prep for the season opener on Thursday, Aug. 31 at Minnesota.
