Huskers Take Three Titles on Saturday at Drake Relays

Nebraska track and field added three victories, an all-time mark and a team trophy to the weekend on Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sam Easley, Nick Bryant, Omar Rodgers and Niko Schultz raced to the 4x400m relay title in 3:09.28.

The Husker men were crowned the Relays Team Champions after two relay wins (4x400m, 4x800m) and a third-place showing in the sprint medley.

Jenna Rogers and Madi Scholl won their respective high jump sections, capturing flags of their own. Rogers cleared 5-10 1/2 (1.79m) to win the championship section and Scholl jumped 5-8 (1.73m) to take the invitational section. Madison Yerigan added a clearance of 5-6 (1.68m) to place sixth in the championship.

Taylor Latimer climbed to second on the all-time list in the hammer throw, tossing 205-3 (62.56m) to place third. Hillevi Carlsson and Tanessa Morris added marks of 198-3 (60.43m) and 196-1 (59.77m), taking fifth and sixth.

Mirta Kulisic achieved a new personal-best, securing the runner-up finish in the javelin with a 176-6 (53.80m). Madison Lueger added a sixth-place effort with a mark of 142-0 (43.29m). Brooklyn Miller threw for 134-8 (41.04m) to place eighth in the open section.

Darius Luff ran in the invitational section of the 110m hurdles and ran to a runner-up finish in 13.48. Johanna Ilves crossed the line at 13.55 in the 100m hurdles final to claim fourth place.

Michael Hoffer leaped 22-11 3/4 (7.00m) to place fifth in the long jump. In the open section, Clayton Keys jumped 23-2 3/4 (7.08m) to finish sixth.

With a distance of 203-2 (61.93m), Tyler Brown placed seventh in the javelin. Niko Schultz ran a 1:53.15 in the 800m to finish ninth.

Lorenzo Paissan, Bryant, Cory Berg and Cortez Ruiz raced to third place in the sprint medley with a 3:24.62.

Some NU athletes spent Saturday competing at the Prairie Wolf Invitational. Nebraska earned eight titles today at the Woody Greeno Track on Nebraska Wesleyan's campus

The Huskers will travel to Manhattan, Kan., on May 6 for the Ward Haylett Invitational.
