Huskers Secure Win Over Buffaloes

Lincoln, Neb. -  The No. 56 Nebraska Women's Tennis team (8-1, 0-0 Big Ten) secured the win against Colorado (6-3, 0-0 Pac-12) 4-1 on Friday afternoon. 
 
The team of Samantha Alicea and Raphaëlle Lacasse began doubles play for NU in the No. 1 position, defeating Mila Stanojevic and Elys Ventura 6-2. On the season, Alicea and Lacasse are undefeated in doubles play with a 3-0 record. On Court 3, Ana Carmen Zamburek and Lucy Loy dropped the match against Ellen Puzak and Betina Tokac 7-5. It was a fight to the end on Court 2 as the duo of Isabel Adrover Gallego and Anfisa Danilchenko were tied 6-6 before winning the tiebreak and clinching the doubles point against Antonia Balzert and Anya Nelson 7-6 (3). 
 
To start singles play, the Buffaloes tied the overall match 1-1 as Carmen Zamburek fell on Court 1 against Colorado's Balzert, 6-1, 6-1. Jillian Roa then picked up the first singles point on Court 5 for NU against Carri Hayes, winning the match 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 3 position, Alicea defeated Stanojevic 7-5, 6-2. On Court 6, Loy clinched the overall win against CU, besting Puzak 7-5, 6-2.
 
The teams decided to conclude play with two unfinished matches on Court 2 and Court 4. 
 
Up next, the Huskers will host a double header on Sunday against Wyoming at 10 a.m. (CT) and Kansas City at 2:30 p.m. (CT).
