Huskers Start Drake Relays and NWU Meet

The Nebraska track and field team began competition at the Drake Relays and the Prairie Wolf Invitational on Thursday. 

At the Drake Relays, Ryan Martins was the runner-up in the unseeded 5,000 meters with a time of 14:06.35, the No. 4 time in Nebraska outdoor history. Bailey Timmons placed 15th with an outdoor PR of 14:24.82. 

Taya Skelton placed 14th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:42.86, improving her No. 10 time in school history. 

At the Prairie Wolf Invitational, Passmore Mudundulu won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump. Mudundulu had big outdoor PRs in both events, 48-0 1/2 (14.64m) in the triple jump and 23-10 3/4 (7.28m) in the long jump. 

Tyler Drew won the 400-meter hurdles title in 53.67, while Clayton Keys (54.41) and Joseph Clifford (54.46) were third and fourth, respectively. 

Zach Morrison was third in the discus (153-00, 46.63m) and fourth in the hammer throw (184-0, 56.10m). Josh Marcy was fourth in the discus (150-9, 45.95m) and fifth in the hammer throw at 183-10 (56.03m), a PR. 

Nick Bryant led five Huskers in the top six of the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.74 to finish second. Daniel Mattern (1:53.00), Sam Easley (1:53.62), Holden Ruse (1:55.04) and Zach Van Brocklin (1:55.26) followed Bryant in order. Jack Nolley was third in the 1,500 meters (4:09.24). 

For the Husker women, Nieve Walsh won the 800 meters in 2:15.26, a new personal best. Kaitlynn Johnson (2:16.19) and Lindsey Blehm (2:18.41) were fourth and fifth. 

Karlie Moore won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.18, and Kerrigan Myers took runner-up honors in the 100-meter hurdles (14.09). 

Jade Hallgrimson (4:59.10) and Emma Ralston (5:02.39) were second and third, respectively, in the 1,500 meters.
