The Nebraska track and field outdoor season officially began on Friday at the Arizona State Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
Henry Zimmerman took fifth place for the Huskers in the hammer throw, NU's first event of the day. Zimmerman's best throw of 207-3 (63.19m) ranks sixth in school history.
Hannah Godwin posted a top-10 time in school history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 10:42.75, the No. 9 time at Nebraska. She took third in the event, while Taya Skelton (10:57.08) and Brynna McQuillen (11:16.33) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kalynn Meyer led the NU women with a fourth-place discus finish. She set a collegiate PR of 170-3 (51.89m) in her first outdoor competition. Nya Diew was eighth with a personal-best throw of 159-5 (48.60m).
Maxwell Otterdahl was the top Husker finisher in the men's discus, placing seventh with a mark of 173-1 (52.76m).
Brooklyn Miller was fourth for the Huskers in the women's high jump.
The meet continues on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
