Huskers Top UTEP to Conclude Fall Slate

The No. 4 Nebraska Rifle team (5-4) defeated UTEP on Sunday at the Nebraska Rifle Range by a score of 4,712-4,613.

With the score of 4,712, the Huskers have scored the top five team scores in program history in the first nine matches of the season.

Huskers swept the top four spots overall. Junior All-American Cecelia Ossi took first with an aggregate score of 1,185. Fellow junior All-American Madelynn Erickson (second, 1,180), freshman Emma Rhode (third, 1,178) and Camilla Johannessen (fourth, 1,167) joined her in sweeping the top four spots.

"The team shot well," said Head Coach Mindy Miles. "It was a good end to the semester. It's been an impressive fall season, and I am really looking forward to more opportunites to compete in the spring."

In the air rifle, NU took the top five spots. Ossi claimed first with a score of 597 to match her career best. Rhode was second with a score of 594, Erickson was third with a score of 593, Sophomore Mackenzie Strauch was fourth with a score of 592 and Johannessen was fifth with a score of 590.

In the smallbore, Ossi placed first to lead Nebraska. Erickson followed her in second (587) and Rhode was third (584).

The Huskers will take a break until Jan. 14, when they will travel to Kentucky to face Morehead State.
