On the matchup against Wisconsin’s defensive front
“I thought we were pretty physical all day with them. We knew watching film that they were going to be another tough offensive line we face, but we had have a chance to beat them. For most of the day, almost all four quarters, we were handling them pretty physical up there.”
On several straight runs
“You start to pick up on keys and understand the details of what the lineman look like during that play, so maybe you’re able to cheat it. I know I was able to a few times today. If that’s the one play they keep gashing us on, then we need to be smarter on our end to know that play’s coming.”
On Wisconsin’s different running backs
“They were both pretty similar, but (Braelon Allen) was just a little bit bigger than (Isaac Guerendo). We had respect for them going into this past week that they were going to be downhill runners and were going to be physical and tough. We knew if we hit them and hit them enough then they wouldn’t want to be out there anymore. That was our game plan, they were downhill runners.”
On progression of defense
“We knew it was going to be physical and that the start of the end of our schedule was going to be a lot of run teams and physical teams. We had that mindset in our heads that it’s going to be a fight every time and whether we’re the underdog or not it doesn’t matter. We’ll come out and play the way we play.”
On message heading into Iowa
“Just keep going. We’re not out of this fight. We still have one game left this season and we need to finish the season. Nobody has quit this season or wanted to be done or hasn’t given full effort in meetings and practice. It’s been a really great thing we’ve done as a team, glue together and stick together and that’s what we need to do for this next game.”
