Marques Buford Jr. Quotes - 11-8-22

Marques Buford Jr.
Defensive Back
Pre-Michigan
Press Conference

On his role on defense this week
“Honestly, I feel like everything is going to play out the same. My role is still going to be the same. Everybody is just going to have to step up. It’s not going to be anything different. Next man up is what we’ve been preaching all year, and that’s what we’re going to preach now.”

On what it’s like being a safety in the Big Ten
“Physically, it is what it is. Playing guys that usually have 20 or 30 pounds on you, but still having to bring them down definitely takes a wear on the body for sure. Our training staff is second to none. How our meals are structured are second to none. They do a great job making sure everybody’s body is right and ready to go for each and every week.”

On Michigan's physicality
“I feel like it’s just going to be like any other conference game. Every week we play a team in the Big Ten. We have to come with our pads strapped tight and cleats laced up ready to go. I feel like the physicality of the game is going to be about where it’s been these last few weeks for us. We should be fine.”

On what the team did well last year against Michigan
“Everybody just played together. I think when everybody players together and sticks together it’s up to us to beat us. It’s not really going to be in anybody else’s hands but ours if everybody is hitting on the same chord at the same time.”

On Caleb Tannor’s comments post-game
“I know the effort of me and my teammates. I don’t feel like there was any of that in there. My teammates played hard every play, and they gave their all every game, every day in practice, every meeting and every little thing we do.  I don’t think there is anything about want or pure will to get the job done that’s holding the guys back.”
