Postgame Quotes vs. Minnesota (Nov. 5, 2022)

On how locked in the team was in the first half
“The mentality we had leading up to the game with the last few meetings that we had. It really struck the guys in how we needed to come out for the game. First half I thought we were on fire. Obviously, Minnesota is going to make adjustments. As soon as they couldn’t run the ball anymore they were going to pass. It’s just on us. We have to stay focused and locked in and execute the small details.”

On the opportunity of having the halftime lead
“It boosted me. I was ready to go. I didn’t realize it was the end of the quarter until I saw Garrett Nelson run into the locker room. I thought it would be a good momentum for us because we knew Minnesota was getting the ball back in the second half. We just have to stay focused and locked in.”

On the difference between the halves
“They have a pretty smart staff over there. I think a lot of it was adjustment and how focused we were on the run. Maybe they found a way to exploit us in a way that we didn’t see. At the end of the day, I came here to play defense, and I know everyone else did too. No matter what, my job is to get the offense the ball back. I’m happy to do that.”

On what the general mood of the team is
“I think most of us are disappointed with how this game turned out. I know I am. We are on to Michigan next. We know they are a tough opponent as well. We have to get to this game, watch it, analyze, realize our mistakes and make sure we don’t do it again next week.”
