Brian Buschini Quotes - 9-27-22

Brian Buschini
Nebraska Punter
Pre-Indiana
Press Conference

On how he’s feeling
“Little sore. Sprained ankle but I’ll be good to play on Saturday.”

On the last time he had to make a tackle like on Saturday
“Montana versus Idaho last year. It was on kickoff. I don’t have a problem hitting people. I actually kind of enjoy it believe it or not.”

On what it was like punting through the injury
“I changed my form. I started doing a one-step punt because I had no explosiveness of my plant. I’ve been working on that the last couple of days. I will probably be doing that on Saturday. It’s really not a huge change. I did a drill called the one-step drill with my kicking coaches. I do that all the time so it’s really not that different.”

On what Coach Connors has brought to the team
“It’s a great opportunity for him. He’s probably one of the younger coordinators in FBS. He’s been really close with the specialists unit because he’s been with us when Coach Busch has to go work big teams in the past. We are really close with Coach Connors and I have a special relationship with him. There’s not too many changes as far as big scheme goes. We are going to run the same stuff we have been and I have a lot of confidence in the guys we’ve put out there. Obviously we’ve done pretty good so far this year. You might see a couple new people out there but as far as setup goes it’s going to be the same thing as Coach Busch.”

On what it’s like working with Coach Connors
“He’s really energetic but he’s super positive. He’s not going to drag you down super hard if you have a mistake. He’s going to kind of positively reinforce you to do better. I think that’s a really good trait to have especially when it comes to kicking and punting because sometimes you have a mistake and you don’t want to get too down on yourself. I’m really appreciative of Coach Connors for keeping us up and spirits high if things don’t go great.”
