5 questions with Cassidy Ray
1) What is the thing you will remember most during your time as a Husker bowler?
"The one thing I will remember most is winning a National Championship with my team. That is something I will always be proud of. I will also remember all the girls who have been teammates over the years; I am still very close with some of them and I am so thankful Nebraska Bowling put them in my life."
2) What is the most important lesson you can take from your college experience?
"I actually have two important lessons. Both have taught me so much and allowed me to become the best individual I can be. The first one: Hard work and dedication will always pay off, even if you don't see results right away. The second is: It's okay to not be okay all the time. Taking advantage of the resources provided to me as a student-athlete was a very important part of my college experience."
3) What is your favorite thing about your fellow Husker senior?
"My favorite thing about Michelle is that she is someone I can go to for advice, and someone I can rely on. She has always been a real friend to me, and I am so thankful I got to spend the last five years with her. She is definitely a friend for life, and I know I can always call or text her if I need something!"
4) What was your favorite class to take during your time at Nebraska, and why?
"I actually have a few favorite classes. The first one was my Criminal Procedure class with Rick Tast. He always found a way to make the class fun and engaged with students, which made the subjects easy to learn. Even though this class switched to online during COVID in March 2020, he still found a way to make the topics interesting and always provided the best stories to help students get a better understanding of the topic. The second class was my Psychology and Law class with Trace Vardsveen. I missed the opportunity to take this course the first time it was offered and as soon as I saw it was available in Spring 2021, I jumped on it. It further expanded my knowledge of how psychology relates to criminal behavior and opened my eyes to other ways it relates to the legal field. The third class was my Psychology of Personality class with Assistant Dean Marc Pearce. This class also switched to online during COVID, but he still provided in-depth lessons which were all very interesting. One of my favorite assignments in the class was about the Big 5 Personalities, in which we took a test to see our Big 5 Personalities ranked and then we wrote a paper on how accurate we thought the rankings were."
5) What is the one piece if advice you would give to an incoming freshman?
"Always work hard for what you want and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. College can be scary at first, but stepping out of your comfort zone, making new friends, and participating in events around campus will make things a lot less scary."

1. What is Cassidy's legacy in the Husker bowling program?
"Cassidy will leave a legacy of leadership, and she will serve as an example for those who follow what a true Husker athlete looks like. She reached extremely high levels in athletic performance and academic accomplishments while serving her community. Not to mention she leaves here a national champion and a three-time All- American."
2. What is your favorite memory of Cassidy during her career?
My favorite memory is Cassidy making two decisive shots during our National Championship run in 2021. Against Vanderbilt in the Regional final, Cassidy had to strike on her final shot of the final game of the match to keep our season alive, and she did. Then on national television, she recorded another key strike on her final ball of the match to lock up the National Championship for our team.
