Four Huskers Finish in Top 25

Four Huskers finished in the top 25, as the Nebraska men's golf team closed just two strokes shy of sharing the team title at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz., over the weekend.

NU opened with its best round, shooting a 287 (-1) on the par-72, 7,107-yard layout. The first-round effort was led by seniors Caleb Badura and Mark Foelbaek, each carding a three-under-par 69. Foelbaek (Jelling, Denmark) followed up with rounds of 80 (+8) and 73 (+1) to tie for 20th (222).

Badura, a Nebraska native, put up a 76 (+4) in the second round and a 78 (+6) in the third to tie for 25th with a 223, which matched the best 54-hole score in the fall season as he also posted a 223 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in September.

Senior Tom Westenberger led the Big Red, firing a one-over 73 in the first, an even-par 72 in the second and closing with a 75 to finish in 15th (220) in the 88 player field.

Senior Branden Meyer added another top-25 finish for NU, scoring a 222 to tie with Foelbaek for 20th. Meyer (Gilbert, Ariz.) improved his score by two strokes each round, opening with a 76, shooting a 74 in the second and firing an even-par 72 in the final round on Sunday.

Junior Will Marshall rounded out the Big Red lineup in a tie for 46th after finishing at 228 (+12). His best round came from the second, where he fired an even-par 72.
