After hosting a virtual event in 2021, Nebraska Life Skills returned to Memorial Stadium to host the 30th Annual Husker Student-Athlete Career Fair on Monday Night. The event, which is required for 3rd-6th year student-athletes, allowed 188 student-athlete attendees to showcase their skills and pursue their professional aspirations as they interacted with over 80 professionals who were in attendance. Professional guests in attendance featured representatives from multiple industries including agriculture, sales, education, healthcare, marketing, technology, law enforcement, finance, and more.
Attendees were split into two, forty-five minute groups for the career fair to help alleviate the flow of traffic throughout the evening which also allowed for more meaningful conversations with the professionals in attendance. The first stop at the career fair for student-athletes was the "Warm-Up" station where they received a map of the tables, had time to come up with a game plan for the evening, and could seek advice from the Life Skills staff and their peers on how to attack a career fair. Those in attendance then made their way around the West Stadium Club through an arrangement of 37 different organizations recruiting for internships, full-time jobs, and networking connections. On their way out, attendees stopped by the "Cool-Down" station where they had an opportunity to write a thank you note to professionals whom they made a connection with throughout the evening.
The Husker Student-Athlete Career Fair is a staple of the Nebraska Life Skills program which would not be possible without the partnerships of great companies looking to hire Nebraska student-athletes and the hard work of many employees in the athletic department who help make the event come together each year.
