Colorado Springs, Colo.- The Nebraska rifle team placed fifth in the smallbore on day one of the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships on Saturday.
Sophomore captain Cecelia Ossi led the Huskers with a score of 589. Fifth-year Emily Cheramie and senior Elena Flake both posted scores of 577, and freshman Mackenzie Strauch shot a572.
Ossi competed in the finals for the day and scored a 463.5 toplace second in the conference.
"We have a chance to get out there again tomorrow and show up in air," Head Coach Mindy Miles said after the match today. "Cecelia did really in qualifications and made it to the finals. She represented Nebraska well and got second in the conference."
Alaska Fairbanks is in first with a score of 2,363. TCU placed second (2,345), while Ohio State placed third (2,326) and Air Force (2,318, fourth), Nebraska (2,315, fifth) and UTEP (2,240, sixth) rounded outthefield.
The Huskers will continue competing in the PRC Championships tomorrow. They will shoot the air rifle starting at 7 a.m. Scores can be found in the US Air ForceAcademytabonhttps://results.megalink.no/#!/.
