Logsdon Named Recipient of Hibner Trailblazer Award

The Nebraska Athletic Department announced Friday that long-time Husker athletic administrator Pat Logsdon is the recipient of the 2021-22 Dr. Barbara Hibner Trailblazer Award. Logsdon was presented with the award by Head Volleyball Coach John Cook after Nebraska's volleyball match with Penn State Friday evening.

The Trailblazer Award was first given in 2000 to honor outstanding support and generous contributions to women's athletics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2007, following Dr. Hibner's death, the prestigious award was renamed the Dr. Barbara Hibner Trailblazer Award in honor of the longtime member of the Nebraska Athletic Department and the inaugural recipient of the award.

Logsdon has served in a variety of roles during her 42-year career as a Husker and has been Nebraska's Senior Woman Administrator since 2008, the position Hibner herself held for more than two decades. Logsdon acts as a liaison between Nebraska Athletics and the NCAA and Big Ten Conference, while also representing the Huskers on the Big Ten Sports Management Committee.

Logsdon is set to put the finishing touches on more than a four-decade career in college athletics next month, officially retiring from the University at the end of the calendar year.

Logsdon began her career with Nebraska Athletics in 1979. She worked directly with the Nebraska Football program for 23 seasons. In 1997, Hall of Fame Coach Tom Osborne chose her as Nebraska's Director of Football Operations, making Logsdon the first female in Division I to serve in that capacity.

As the Director of Football Operations, Logsdon handled organization of all recruiting functions, supervised compliance activities and coordinated all football administrative operations, including travel and practice operations.

"I can't think of a more fitting recipient of the Dr. Barbara Hibner Trailblazer Award than Pat Logsdon," said Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics Trev Alberts. "Pat has humbly served our department behind the scenes for more than four decades. She has always put Nebraska, our coaches, student-athletes and teams first and has never asked for credit or recognition.  I am proud that we are able to honor her contributions with this prestigious award."

In 2003, Logsdon transitioned into an expanded role across Nebraska Athletics, serving as Associate Athletic Director for Administration. She maintained that role until 2008.

Logsdon has served as the sport administrator for numerous teams during her time as an athletic administrator, including Nebraska's perennial national championship-contending volleyball program.

"Pat Logsdon has worked hard to help Nebraska Volleyball Dream Big and accomplish great things," Cook said. "She is most deserving of joining an impressive group of people to have received the Trailblazer Award. We at Nebraska Volleyball appreciate all of her contributions and will miss her friendship, work ethic, 24/7 availability, her emotional support, working with the Big Ten Conference, and the celebrations after winning national championships."

Logsdon also served as the sport administrator for Husker softball for a number of years, where she worked directly with another Trailblazer Award recipient, Nebraska Head Coach Rhonda Revelle.
"Pat Logsdon has spent her entire professional career serving student-athletes, staff and coaches at the University of Nebraska," Revelle said. "It is only fitting that she be awarded the Dr. Barbara Hibner Trailblazer Award as she prepares for the next chapter of life, retirement. Pat, congratulations on this award recognizing your commitment and service. Thank you for your tireless dedication, your unwavering care, and your highest character service to so many during your 42-year career."
