Huskers Set to Compete at Daktronics

The ninth-ranked Nebraska (3-0) wrestling team will send 22 wrestlers to Brookings, S.D., this weekend to compete in the Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open. Hosted by No. 23 South Dakota State University, the competition will take place in the Frost Arena and can be streamed on FloWrestling (subscription required) beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The Daktronics Open has become one of the nation's premier open tournaments over the years. The 2021 edition will feature wrestlers from No. 16 Minnesota, No. 24 Northern Iowa and North Dakota State among others.

Last Time Out:
The Big Red hosted #15 North Carolina this week, defeating the Tar Heels 27-6 in front of 1,618 fans at the Devaney Center. The Huskers held UNC to only six points and recorded three-straight bonus victories as Venz, Schultz and Lance all won by major decision. Highlighting the dual was Robb who defeated defending national champion Austin O'Connor, 5-2.

Huskers Hold Firm in National Polls:
Following dominant season-opening performances against in-state Division II foes Chadron State and No. 2 UNK and the recent victory over North Carolina, the Huskers maintain a top-10 ranking in both the NWCA poll and the Intermat rankings. Following the Daktronics Open, the Huskers travel to the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., December 3-4.

Daktronics Open Rewind:
The Huskers last competed in the Daktronics Open in 2019 where Lovett and Kevon Davenport each won individual championships and six NU grapplers achieved top-3 finishes in their respective brackets.
