Nouredin Nouili
Offensive Lineman
On understanding Ohio State’s program
“Not really. I did not know college football in general, but a lot of teams when they play Ohio State, they really do not think about the players they are playing, they think about the team they are playing. You see the jerseys, obviously they look good in the jerseys, but you have to think about the fact that you are playing a player not the team.”
On specific ways Nouili wants to improve himself
“Every game there is a couple plays that you want back, and I had my fair share of them, but I think so far I have done a good job at keeping my job and just keeping that starting role to myself. But there is good competition behind me, and I have got to show up every day.”
On keeping his job
“Like I said, there is a lot of competition behind everyone, and so you have to show out in practice and during the games as well. So to keep that job it is a hard thing to do.”
On past experiences to draw on in the Ohio State game
“From my football past, it would be when I was at CSU we played Arkansas or same with Colorado. Everyone around me was kind of nervous and at the time I did not really know how college football worked. The only thing I knew was Arkansas is SEC, so I was like, OK this might be different, and it was. They were bigger, they were stronger compared to our D-linemen. It was a different thing, but nowadays I am playing against good players every day in practice, and I think our D-linemen are the best in the Big Ten, so playing against other teams, it is just another player to play against.”
On adapting to Arkansas
“Arkansas ran a very different defense to what I was used to at the time, and it was the second or third game. Like I just got into playing college football, so it definitely did take some time.”
On the team's energy in practice today
“Same thing. Just a lot of energy coming off the ball and just getting out there. Our practice today compared to other weeks. It is not very different. Usually every Monday we come out and do our job.”
On holding calls
“It is hard as an O-lineman to try to work on something like that because holding happens basically every play, but once you can feel the guy kind of falling off, you have to let go. I mean it worked the other games. The ref happened to see it during that game. It is something you work on every day in every practice, like as soon as the guy starts falling off you have to let go and sometimes it just does not work out that way. So it is kind of hard to just fully work on something like that, but I mean we try to every day.”
