On what to expect against Ohio State
“Obviously they’re an explosive offense, and I think that the lessons to take away from years past that we played them, on the way to play in close is you have to get turnovers. You have to keep them in check. Obviously, explosive plays as much as possible. They’re going to get some plays, because they have athletes, but just limiting that and getting turnovers is the biggest key.”
On building momentum against Ohio State
“I mean nothing changes from week-to-week to prepare. I’m going to prepare how I prepare every week and sometimes stat-wise it can turn out a little different.”
On the health of the team heading into November
“Obviously it’s a physical sport and you can’t control that entirely. Injuries are going to happen, but it's definitely been something that we’ve been able to prevent as of late, so it has been good.”
On avoiding injuries
“Everything in the weight room is just that. It’s injury prevention. That's the reason you’re in the weight room for the most part. Other than that, it’s recovery. A lot of injuries you’re not going to be able to prevent out there on the field, so there’s not a ton you can do sometimes. If you’re going to get your knee blown out and someone rolls into you, what are you going to do about that? It’s football.”
On the post-game message from the seniors and captains after the Purdue game
“JoJo Domann was definitely vocal. I don’t necessarily remember everyone that spoke. There’s quite a few people that spoke after the game. The message is similar. Those leaders carry a lot of the same messages and viewpoints across the team. The message that they spoke on was pretty unanimous.”
On finding a way to keep confidence after a tough loss
“We have a lot of older guys and a lot of guys who have played a lot of football. We’re confident in ourselves and confident in each other that we can do our jobs. We wouldn’t be on the field if we weren’t capable of doing our jobs at a high level. I think that’s where a lot of it stems from.”
On the talent gap between Nebraska and Ohio State
“I don’t know how much it has changed over the years, but I don’t think that the talent gap is that big across Division I football. I think it’s a lot smaller than it was years ago. You have to come to play every week.”
