Nebraska freshman Abbey Schwarz was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week following the conclusion of the regular season, the conference announced Tuesday.
Schwarz finished the season with one goal and one assist against Minnesota to help the team to its third-straight win and fifth shutout on Sunday, Oct. 24. The freshman tallied three goals and a team-leading eight assists on the year for Nebraska, while playing in 16 games and starting the last four.
This week's conference honor marks the first Husker to earn Freshman of the Week since Gwen Lane received the nod on April 6, 2021. The recognition is also the third weekly award of the season, as sophomore Sami Hauk was named Goalkeeper of the Week two times in August.
The Huskers were unable to qualify for the conference tournament that will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 7 but finish the year on a high note with three-straight wins against Big Ten opponents.
