Ben Stille Quotes - 10-25-21

Ben Stille
Defensive Lineman

On Husker linebacker and former Navy SEAL Damian Jackson
“Damian just from his background and his perspective he has on life is really awesome as a teammate. He brings a great perspective as far as practice and these workouts are not necessarily what is hard in life. He brings a lot of wisdom, and obviously he is a beast in the weight room and on the field. Physically as well put together as anyone on the team. He is just awesome for pushing guys and bringing guys along.”

On the bye week
“I think it was a good opportunity to unplug and recharge. Everybody is a little beat up. Just get everyone back. All the energy and everything back underneath you. I think it was good for a lot of guys.”

On Purdue’s offense
“They are not your typical Big Ten team. They throw a lot more than they run, as you eluded to, so we are going to have to rush together as a unit. Our front four are going to have to put pressure on them.”

On creating a strong pass-rush
“There is always room for improvement obviously. There has been games we have been really good, and games we have been nearly nonexistent. A lot of it is dictated RPO max press stuff. It is what it is. Nothing we can do about the past. We are looking forward to this challenge we have this week.”

On Purdue’s last few games
“It is no different than any other Big Ten season in however many past years we have been in the league. Anybody loses, anybody wins in any given week. Everybody is solid top to bottom and you have to bring your A game every week, or you are going to get beat. That is just the way it is. We have to play to the best of our ability every week to even have a shot in this league.”

On the Minnesota game
“Obviously the first half there is a lot to be learned from there. A lot of it was tackling and leverage for us. Something we work on daily. Just have to be better at our fundamentals technique. Have to win our one-on-one battles. A lot of that was also everybody out there has a one-on-one battle for the most part, and we have to win them.”

On the offensive line
“They have been solid. Today was obviously the first day seeing them, but they seem well-rested well-recovered. Coming off the ball hard this week, so expect good things out of them.”

On finishing the season strong
“I do not feel any different after a bye week. Last week, practice energy was really good those two practices we got in. I think a lot of it is a tribute to the leadership. The majority of this team has seen seasons, and we have tried the other route obviously, and guys have mailed seasons in the past and it obviously doesn’t work. I think that is a big part of it. Guys have been a part of it, and guys really want to change this season for the better.
