On his interception
“I mean, I just got my hand up on the ball and then it basically landed right in my lap. Then I just thought ‘score’. So I’m kind of mad I didn't get in, but we got the touchdown the next play, so I can’t be too mad about that. It brought me back to my high school days of running the ball a little bit, but it was fun.”
On if he was surprised that Buffalo went for it on 4th and 3 in their own territory
“No, not really. I mean you have to play the call and that's what I did. I just have to go attack and be violent and be violent with my finishes on my tackle so that's what I did.”
On training for having to play a lot of snaps
“The weight room guys do a great job with us. We're always in good shape. It's a year-long process. They know what they're doing. So it's just a product of the entire year of what we do in here.”
On the offense not finishing drives and the defense having to step up
“I mean, no matter what we just have to go out there with the mindset that we have to go win the game. It doesn't matter what the offense is doing: if they're scoring, if they're kind of sputtering around. We'll be like, we have to go out with a mindset that they can't score, they can't get anything. So I thought we did a pretty good job with that today.”
On Buffalo not scoring a touchdown
“That was huge, that was huge. They're a good offense, they're a good team. They put up 50 something points last week, so they're good. They're a good team, they're a good offense so it was good for us.”
On beating Buffalo, who offered him out of high school
“Yep, Buffalo was the only FBS team that offered me out of high school. It was fun.”
On if he was expecting to play this kind of a game as a walk on
“Not at all. Not at all. I didn't know what I was expecting when I walked on here so I just got in here and got to work. It’s paid off so far.”
On the frequency of Buffalo’s run plays
“I thought we did pretty good. I mean, they're a physical front. They have a good o-line and they have good backs. They’re a good running team. I thought we did a good job, countering back with a physical front seven today, so it was good.”
On playing behind Damion Daniels
“We're always fighting to play behind ‘Boogie’. He's a beast in that whole front. That whole front defensive line: they’re a really good group. Coach has them playing at a high level.”
On if his mind is on next week’s game
“I'm just going to take tonight off basically and then Sunday, tomorrow, it's on to Oklahoma. They're obviously a good team.”
On growing up in Kansas City and around Oklahoma football
“Growing up, I didn’t watch as much of Nebraska as I watched Oklahoma. I was more Big 12 obviously, growing up in Kansas, so I watched more Big 12 games than I've watched Big Ten games. Growing up, they've always just been a really good team, a really good program. I mean, there's not much else to be said about that: they're a really good team.”
