Hoffer, Conner Earn NCAA High Jump Bids

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - For the third day in a row, the Nebraska track and field team qualified two student-athletes for the NCAA Championships, bringing their three-day total to six qualifiers.

On Friday, Michael Hoffer and Mayson Conner both finished in the top 12 in the high jump at the NCAA West Preliminary Round at E.B. Cushing Stadium to advance to the NCAA Championships in two weeks.

Hoffer, who qualified in the long jump on Wednesday, will now also compete in the high jump in Eugene, Oregon. Hoffer hit a new high jump personal best of 7-2 1/4 (2.19m) on his third attempt to finish seventh overall.

Conner, who will compete at his third career NCAA Championships, also cleared 7-2 1/4 (2.19m) on his third attempt and placed 11th. The two-time Big Ten champion was a first-team indoor All-American and a second-team outdoor All-American as a freshman in 2019.

Papay Glaywulu turned in an all-time top-10 performance in the triple jump, though he was unable to advance to nationals by finishing 17th. Glaywulu jumped 52-2 (15.90m), which is tied for 10th in NU outdoor history.

The Huskers had eight men set to compete in track events on Friday evening, but the meet was postponed due to inclement weather before the running events could begin. The events featuring the Huskers - 4x100-meter relay, 1,500 meters and 110-meter hurdles - will likely be contested on Saturday now. Also on Saturday, Madison Yerigan (high jump) and Judi Jones (3,000-meter steeplechase) will compete for the Husker women.
