Huskers Travel to Texas for Aggie Invite

Fresh off a strong tournament showing in Indiana, the Nebraska men's golf team turns its attention to Texas to compete at the Aggie Invitational in College Station this weekend.

The Huskers will be part of a loaded 17-team field that features 11 top-75 teams, including No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 5 Texas, No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 25 Texas Tech, along with Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Lamar, Louisville, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, Rice, UNLV and UTSA.

The teams will play single rounds each of the tournament's three days, beginning with 11:30 a.m. tee times on Friday, April 9 (delayed from original 8:15 a.m. start). Tee times are scheduled to continue at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, before the final round tees off at 7:30 a.m.

Nebraska Head Coach Mark Hankins said the Huskers will be challenged by a great course and a great field at Texas A&M.

"We know the Traditions course is going to provide some great challenges in the same way that the Pfau course did at Indiana," Hankins said. "We just need to be aggressive and play smart. It is obviously a quality field with some really good golf teams but we just need to put up a good score each day for three rounds. Every course and every day is a new opportunity, and we want to make the most of it."

Nebraska's five-player lineup in count-four scoring will be led by freshman Jack Lundin, who tied for fourth at the Hoosier Invitational (April 3-4). Tom Westenberger added a top-10 finish in Indiana to help the Huskers to a third-place team finish. Branden Meyer, Jeremy Sisson and Will Marshall, who all played major roles in NU's strong showing in Indiana, will all be back in the lineup for the Big Red in Texas.

Following the tournament at Texas A&M, Nebraska will play host to the Git-R-Done Husker Invitational at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln (April 17-18). Coach Mark Hankins and the Huskers will host a Media Day for the event at Firethorn on Tuesday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m.
