The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up competition at the Indiana Big Ten Invitational #1 on Saturday in Bloomington, Indiana. The Huskers captured wins in both the men's and women's javelin to end the weekend.
Maddie Harris won the women's javelin with a personal-best throw of 164-7 (50.17m). Her mark ranks ninth in school history. Mirta Kulisic was second with a throw of 162-5 (49.50m), the 11th-best throw ever by a Husker. Madison Lueger finished fourth at 149-8 (45.62m). Eric Garner won gold in the men's javelin with a toss of 192-5 (58.64m). Tyler Brown placed third with a throw of 180-5 (54.99m).
Burger Lambrechts Jr. was the runner-up in the shot put with an outdoor personal-best throw of 64-0 1/4 (19.51m). His mark moved him up to No. 5 in outdoor school history. Kevin Shubert was right behind him in third place, throwing 59-11 (18.26m).
Joey Daniels made his 110-meter hurdles debut for the Big Red. The Princeton transfer was the runner-up with a personal-best time of 13.69. With wind aid, it was the 12th-fastest time ever by a Husker.
Lambrechts Jr. also led the Husker men in the discus, finishing fourth with a throw of 178-8 (54.46m).
The Huskers will send more athletes to the Big Ten Invitational, hosted by Iowa in Jacksonville, Florida next weekend.
