The Nebraska women's tennis team moved up six spots from last week to No. 40 in the latest ITA Coaches Poll, the team's highest ranking in 2021. The 7-3 Huskers have spent three consecutive weeks in the top-50 rankings.
NU earns the No. 40 spot after going 1-1 last weekend on the road. On Friday, the Huskers lost a hard-fought match to No. 8 Northwestern 4-2 but bounced back to defeat Illinois 4-3 on Sunday.
Head Coach Scott Jacobson commented on the ranking, "We are excited to be recognized by the coaches group for the hard work and dedication of this team."
The Huskers are one of six ranked teams in the Big Ten Conference.
This weekend, Nebraska looks to continue its success welcoming Minnesota and Wisconsin to the Dillon Tennis Center. The No. 40 Huskers take on Minnesota (3-6 B1G) Friday at 6 p.m., and No. 49 Wisconsin (7-3, 6-4 B1G) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
