Knapton, Troyer Punch Tickets to Nationals

The Nebraska swimming and diving team hopes to put another exclamation point on the 2021 season after its best Big Ten finish in school history, as the Huskers will send four athletes to the NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C., March 17-20.

The Huskers completed their NCAA contingent on Saturday when Knapton took third on platform at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Lexington, Ky. Knapton, who is a three-time first-team All-American on platform, posted a six-dive score of 619.45 at the zone meet. She will compete in all three dives at the NCAA Championships, after taking fourth (686.60) on the three-meter and 12th on one-meter in Kentucky.

The redshirt senior from Omaha who won a pair of 2021 Big Ten diving titles, is a four-time All-American overall. She will be joined by 2020 CSCAA All-America diver Sara Troyer at nationals. Troyer, a junior from Goshen, Ind., took 10th on the one-meter dive (561.15) and added a 12th-place finish on three-meter (617.50) at the NCAA Zone D Championships.

Nebraska's diving duo was preceded in qualifying for the 2021 NCAA Championships by swimmers Autumn Haebig and Audrey Coffey. Both swimmers will take aim at back-to-back All-America honors after capturing CSCAA accolades a year ago.

Haebig, a senior from Grafton, Wis., won Nebraska'a first Big Ten swimming title in school history in the 200 freestyle (1:44.39) at the end of February. She qualified in two events, 200 and 500 free, and will likely compete in the 100 free as well. Haebig is a three-time NCAA qualifier in the freestyle events.

Coffey, a junior from Naperville, Ill., qualified for the second straight season in the 1,650 freestyle (16:19.73).

The NCAA Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina open on Wednesday, March 17 and continue through Saturday, March 20.
