Lundin 3-1 at Big Ten Match Play

Jack Lundin secured his third win in four matches at the Big Ten Match Play Championships on Saturday at the Hammock Beach Resort Ocean Course in Palm Coast, Fla.

Lundin, a true freshman from Sioux Falls, S.D., claimed a victory over Maryland's Will Koras 5&4 in the No. 4 spot in the Husker lineup to close the tournament with a 3-1 record. Unfortunately for Nebraska, Lundin's victory was the lone individual win of the day for Huskers, who closed the tournament with a 3-1-1 loss to the Terrapins, after suffering a 4-0-1 loss to Rutgers in their morning match.

"We're excited for Jack because he truly played well and beat some good competition this week," Nebraska Head Coach Mark Hankins said. "As a team, we are learning every moment of every day. It's easy to forget that we have four newcomers who have one semester of experience and two freshmen who just played their first college event. We will grow from this and be better and tougher. We got a lot of reps and this will help us be prepared for our upcoming spring tournaments."

Caleb Badura managed a tie in his match with Maryland's Dillon Brown in the No. 3 position in the match play lineup, but Branden Meyer lost to Terp Christopher Park 2 up thru 18 at the top of the lineup. Tom Westenberger lost UMD's Austin Barbin 2&1 at the No. 2 spot, and Maryland claimed the team win Dhaivat Pandya's win over Mark Foelbaek 1 up in the No. 5 position.

Nebraska opened the day against Rutgers with Westenberger managing a tie against RU's Oliver Whatley, but the rest of the Huskers took losses to their Scarlet Knight counterparts.
