Huskers bring awareness to Native American Heritage Month

The month of November is recognized as Native American Heritage Month, and Nebraska Athletics is taking the time to honor this month through education. The state of Nebraska has indigenous roots, with the state name coming from the Omaha-Ponca and Otoe language.

The Huskers have shown their commitment internally to educating all staff throughout the month with emails from Julie Tuttle, with important facts and history of Native American Heritage Month. In addition to the state name, numerous counties, landmarks, reservations and cities are named after Native American and Indigenous people and languages throughout the state. With this visual, the goal is to spread awareness of indigenous landmarks in Nebraska. Husker Athletics is proud to honor this great month, and be able to help bring awareness to our great fans in Nebraska on Indigenous counties and cities.
