Seven Huskers Finish in Top 12 at State Amateur

Husker Lindsey Thiele fired a one-under-par 71 to finish as the runner-up at the 46th Nebraska Women's Amateur Championship at the Country Club of Lincoln on Wednesday.

Thiele, a freshman-to-be from Wahoo, finished with a three-round total of one-under-par 215 (71-73-71), trailing only champion Danica Badura (Aurora), who carded the tournament's best round with a five-under-par 67 on Wednesday to claim the title. Badura closed at 213 (-3) over 54 holes.

Thiele led a group of seven current Husker golfers who finished among the top 12 at the state amateur, including junior Kirsten Baete (Beatrice) and sophomore Nicole Hansen (Bloomingdale, Ill.) who finished in a tie for fifth at 226 (+10).

Husker senior-to-be Noor Ahmed (Folsom, Calif.) finished alone in seventh at 227 (+11), which included back-to-back rounds of 74 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Jessica Haraden (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Hannah Thiele (Wahoo), who will both be seniors for the Huskers in 2020-21, tied for 10th at 231 (+15). Junior-to-be Megan Whittaker (Elkhorn) added a tie for 12th at 232 (+16).
